My mom made us advent calendars. She cut out a tree, stump and all out of felt and pasted it onto another piece of felt, underneath she made little pockets that a small ornament would go into to put on the tree and put a rod through the top to hang it by. She then sewed on buttons for each day for the ornaments to hang on.
It always makes me smile and think of here when I see it and it will last for years.
That is such a neat idea! And what a great thing to have from your Mom!
